At Havelock North High School we offer a wide and varied selection of subjects at all levels. Students are guaranteed that every effort will be made to assist them to choose a course which best enables them to achieve their goals.
Students are encouraged and supported to select an academic programme that is challenging and meets their needs for the future. The ability of our timetable to provide individual courses has been an outstanding feature of our school curriculum.
In addition to the normal academic programme, students at all levels of the school take part in a course of study called Encompass. The programme starts in Year 9 and continues through until students leave school at the end of Year 13.
Encompass recognises the need to prepare students for a rapidly changing world and to equip them with both soft skills and learning skills to enable them to be active and engaged contributors in this world.
Encompass classes take place every week of the school year for one period.
Havelock North High School was recently recognised for the outstanding improvement in students' NCEA achievement results. Of particular note was the improvement shown by our Maori and Pasifika students.
