Mud Run for HNHS

A great day in the mud for Team Havelock North in the weekend! Competing in the New Zealand Secondary School Cross Country event in Hawera in abysmal conditions, the team pushed themselves against large groups to achieve fantastic results. We had six students finish in the top 40 placings in their age groups.

Year 9 girls:  Amy Nicoll 14th, Lili Ganivet 32nd

Senior girls: Sofia Lumbreras 22nd

Senior boys: Karsen Vesty 24th, Lorcan Rabbitte 30th, Cameron Potts 36th

Year 9 girls were 4th in both the 3 and 6-person teams (Amy Nicoll, Lili Ganivet, Mackenzie Speers, Katie Mathieson, Emma Rimmer, and Zoe Helliwell).

Senior Boys were 6th in the 3-person and 5th in the 6-person teams (Karsen Vesty, Lorcan Rabbitte, Cameron Potts, Toby Evans, Adam Engelke, Cole Fletcher, and Owen Reid). Their team finished in front of notable schools such as PNBHS, NPBHS, Auckland Grammar, Christchurch BHS, Kings, St Peters Cambridge, Sacred Heart Auckland, and St Patrick’s College Silverstream.

On the Sunday, the 5 x 2 km relay was run as regions. Lili and Amy were chosen for the East Coast team and finished with a bronze medal. Congratulations to all athletes on their results despite the difficult conditions.
