Another expedition for Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Hillary Award students

Two Bronze Duke of Edinburgh student groups tackled the Ruahine and Kaweka Ranges on Sunday and Monday 20/21 November.  One group tramped to Sunrise Hut in the Ruahines and the others ventured into the Kawekas to Te Puia Lodge   Unlike the previous expedition the weather was kind and spirits were high.  Congratulations to those students who have now achieved their Bronze awards.

The Duke of Edinburgh's Hillary Award programme is part of a worldwide network which provides young people with a balanced, non-competitive programme of individual challenge through which they can make constructive use of their leisure time.

The Award programme provides a framework for personal discovery and growth through Service, Skills, Physical Recreation and Adventurous Journeys; developing perseverance, responsibility to self and to the community. Individuals or organisations can use this framework, with its three levels, to provide individual challenge and achievement for young people between the ages of 14 and 25.
